Sa Calobra - Mallorca Island Map 5.2
The Torrent de Pareis is the most outstanding feature of this section of rugged coastline. In their final stretch, the Gorg Blau and Lluc streams run into the sea among large, jagged pinnacles of rock. The streams make an excellent excursion during spring and summer months, since the water courses are empty.
It is best to begin the route at the chapel of Sant Perc d'Escorca and descend a long path to s'Entreforc. With sturdy footwear, the path is easy to follow.
The road from LIuc to sa Calobra is also truly spectacular. Built this century, it winds for 14 kilometres to avoid having to climb 9OO metres. The engineering solutions found are remarkable and some points have been given a popular name, such as the well-known "knot in the tie". To the left of the road the levelled area can still be seen from where the funicular would have left to ascend to the top of Puig Roig. This mammoth engineering task was brought to a standstill by the Civil War.
For more than 30 years now, a remarkable concert has been staged every summer, a popular event which has already become a firmly established tradition. The "Capella Mallorquina" offers a concert of choral music and confirms the excellent acoustics of the mouth of the stream.
