Can Pastilla - Mallorca Island Map 4.8

The end of the second runway at Son Sant Joan airport coincides with the tourist resort of Can Pastilla and the yacht club, where there are numerous hotels and second homes. Can Pastilla was one of the main tourist centres of the Balearics during the 40'5,50'5 and 60's.

Helped by its proximity to Palma, some of the busiest night clubs were set up there. It now has some twenty hotels with a capacity of over 6,000. Its population throughout the rest of the year is formed by hotel workers and residents who live in Can Pastilla and commute to Palma. There are also second homes in Cala Estància, next to the yacht club.

The name Pastillia is a corruption of the nickname Pastelli, the owner of a local bar which was much frequented during the 40'5 and 50's.
