There is no doubt that the lack of a large sandy beach has been of considerable benefit to Port d' Andratx. It has prevented the town from becoming just another tourist resort with large hotels and dozens of souvenir shops. Despite the numerous developments that cover the slopes of the mountains, Port d' Andratx retains a singular charm .The sheer rocks of sa Mola and the wildness of Cala Marmassem and Cala Llamp create a landscape of unquestionable beauty.

There are many varied excursions in the Andratx area, offering thousands of possibilities for tastes of all kinds. One of the best-known is the visit to La Trapa. Every day many tourists walk from the Port to Andratx along the old path known as the Camí de Morella. The Port can also be reached from Andratx via the Coil den Boix. Other excursions that can be made on foot are: from Port d'Andratx to Cala Egos and the climb to Puig d'en Garrafa.

During the summer months excursions are periodically organised by boat from Port d' Andratx to Sant Elm and sa Dragonera. Andratx, which never turns its back on tourism, despite the fact that it already has a lively tourist trade of its own, holds a weekly market every Wednesday directly aimed at tourists visiting the town.
