The capital of Mallorca, Palma is a cosmopolitan city in which the traveller will find all types of cultures. It is set in the bay of the same name, 20 kilometres wide and 25 kilometres in length. Half the population of Mallorca are concentrated in Palma - 325,000 inhabitants - a name which dates back to the times of the, Romans who founded the city on the top of a hill overlooking the bay.
