Puerto Pollensa, Spain

Popular with all types of holidaymaker for many years this well known resort is dramatically situated at the end of the awe-inspiring Tramuntana mountain range. A traditional resort, it has a splendid beach and modern marina.

Travel a short distance inland and discover the historic town of Pollensa that has a completely different vibe (more of which later), cycle round the coast and explore Alcudia or go bird-watching in the natural park. There’s so much on offer that it’s a great resort for all ages and there’s enough buzz for those who like a livelier time but families can also feel at home here too.

Beach:

Safe, sandy and shelving gently to crystal clear waters. Good facilities and there are cafes and bars within easy reach.

Nightlife:

It’s a buzzing little resort in its own way; there’s a good number of bars to choose from and many cater for families whilst a few have live music. Eating out is easy as the restaurants are plentiful and well priced. A popular evening activity is strolling along the famous 'pine walk' which is a path that meanders along the coast through pine trees passing some loely examples of Mallorquin houses.

Who goes there:

Just about everyone! Families will love the safe beach and shallow bay, whilst couples and friends will love the laid back feel of the resort. Not a place for partying ‘til dawn but it has got a lively side to it.

Accommodation:

A good choice of hotels and apartments in all areas of the resort along with a small number of private rentals.

What to do:

  • Ahoy there me hearties! Hop aboard one of the boat trips that leave from the harbour
  • Visit the Wednesday market in the old square and grab a bargain!
  • Immerse yourself in history and local culture by taking a trip into nearby Pollensa town where you can walk up the famous Calvari steps or the Old walled town of Alcudia wit hits Roman ruins
  • Visit the water park for a splash-tastic day out

Fiesta:

No local fiestas in the resort so you have to travel to the town of Pollensa where on the 19th and 20th January you can delight in the fiesta of Els Cavellet (or cowboys) when a parade meanders through town and ends in a traditional dance with 2 children wearing papier mache horses

Psst! The mountains are awesome and if you’re hiring a car the drive from Puerto Pollensa to Formentor offers some stunning views where the craggy cliffs fall sheer in the sea. Don’t forget to take your camera!
