Playa de Muro, Spain

If you want to be stunned into silence by the sight of a pure white sandy beach stretching as far as the eye can see - then you’ll find it here at Playa de Muro.

The 6 mile beach runs through this newly developed resort and on to Alcudia on the left and C’an Picafort on the right. Backed by sand-dunes, scattered with beach bars and with soft white sand shelving into pure turquoise waters you’d be hard pressed not to feel you’re in the Caribbean.

Simply stunning! Perfect for families, great choice of water sports, well priced beach bars offer a place to sit in the shade and the beautifully clear waters are a joy to swim in. What more could you want?

Fairly quiet and laid back even in the main season when its popular with couples and families alike. The resort is very handily placed for easy access to Alcudia where you can find a wider choice of entertainment if that tales your fancy.

Who goes there:

Everyone! But it won’t suit those who are looking for lively nights and staggering home at dawn. The emphasis here is on daytime fun.

Modern hotels and apartment complexes are what you'll mainly find. There is private accommodation for hire but the choice is limited.

What to Do:

  • Visit the Old Town of Alcudia and discover the rich history left by the Moors, Romans and Byzantines to name a few!The Roman amphiteatre is worth a visit.
  • Market day in Alcudia Town (can be busy through!)
  • Hydropark water park
  • Take a ride on the Sightseeing bus that tours the resorts in the summer months.
  • Pirate show (one for adults and one for kids so be careful which you book!)
  • Boat trips along the coast.
  • Our favourite is El Laberinto in nearby playa de Muro; if you love running round in circles this is the place to be!
  • Hire a bike and cycle into Alcudia or C’an Picafort.

None in the resort but plenty in Alcudia:

17th January with the festival of the patron saint of animals, Sant Antoni. Locals  light fires and roast "botifarrons". The next day is the ‘blessing of the animals’ when locals have their pets blessed by the town priest.

January 20th is the festival of Sant Sebastia (St Stephen). The saints statue is festooned with orange blossom and paraded through the town.

29th June the patron saint of sailors, Sant Pedro (St Peter) is honored. Boats, all decorated for the event, escort a statue of the saint around the bay followed by celebrations.

July 25th is a week of fiesta celebrating Sant Jaime (St James) the patron saint of Alcudia. There’s plenty of live music events, dancing and religious celebrations.

August 24th the children of Alcudia parade the streets carrying Chinese lanterns carved from melons for the fiesta Les Llanternes.

Psst! Nearby Alcudia was once the Capital of Majorca during the Romans invasion – so there are Roman ruins to explore in the old town.
