An exclusive resort traditionally long favoured by wealthy international businessmen and footballers...just take a look at all the expensive cars parked around the resort!
The resort is fairly compact and consists mainly of upmarket hotels built around a small beach that transcends from white sand to craggy rocks and tiny inlets.
Package tourists are non-existent here, so if you’re looking for somewhere within easy reach of Palma with a sophisticated atmosphere, classy bars and restaurants then this could be the place for you. Travel writers have compared it to Monte Carlo...we wouldn't go THAT far but it does have that air of money about it!
Beach:
Small but beautifully maintained. The soft sand blends in with the occasional rocky outcrop and it’s backed by pine trees which give useful shade in the summer heat. Facilities, as you'd expect, are excellent. Unusually for Spain some of the hotels overlooking the coast have their own private ‘beach’, so if you fancy a touch of exclusivity then look out for one of those. Alternatively, if you want a bit more space to yourself, there’s a smaller, quieter beach a short walk from the main one.
Nightlife:
Exclusive bars and sophisticated restaurants are the name of the game here. Many people now live in the resort or have holiday homes here so this makes for a ‘community’ feel. This is not the place to come to if you’re on a budget or if you’re looking for a vibrant nightlife though there is a wonderful air of sophistication that more than makes up for that.
Who goes there:
Independent travellers looking for exclusivity.
Accommodation:
Mainly 4* and 5* hotels, although private rentals can be found.
What to do:
- There are two good golf courses close by the resort should a game take your fancy www.sonmuntanergolf.com and www.realgolfbendinat.com
- Head into Palma for a day of sightseeing, culture or just shop ‘til you drop.
- Visit the nearby Bellver Castle. Find the official information on: www.palmademallorca.es
